Come along to our spacious new demonstration kitchen to learn about food ingredients and how to select the correct ones for each recipe. Professional chef and co-founder of Mercato, Ngaire Baker will also show you the techniques you need to cook them confidently in your own kitchen and explain how to match wine with the dishes to create a perfect meal.

Celebrate great NZ products in a European style lunch. Salad Caprese with Clevedon Buffalo Mozzarella followed by grilled chicken liver salad with walnuts and raspberry vinaigrette teamed up with Black Estate wine.

Innovative and highly regarded as one of NZ’s best chefs Andrews lunch will be bursting with flavour and utilising local ingredients. This is a chance to get a taste of what you could be in for when dining at The George. This two course lunch will be matched with wine from Black Estate.

Just back from Whitianga scallop festival Brett will be making this most of these seasonal delicacies and will be creating a second course of local line caught cod. Bring a friend along, enjoy wine from Black Estate and find out how Brett won NZ’ first Masterchef competition.
Artisan Afternoons - Every Saturday in Mercato from 1-4pm FREE
Take the chance to meet the artisans. Each Saturday we welcome up to 4 New Zealand producers in the Mercato demonstration kitchen to taste, cook and talk about their products. A great chance to understand their passion, and try new products. *Please note that due to prior bookings in the demonstration area there may be occasional Saturdays in which we are unable to host the artisans.
Thermomix Back to Basics Cooking Class
Whether you already own a Thermomix or just want to see this incredible kitchen appliance in action, our Back to Basics cooking class is for you. Professional chef and co-founder of Mercato, Ngaire Baker loves her Thermomix and will show you how to make additive, colour and preservative-free food from scratch quickly and easily. You’ll get to taste the dishes too.
